Flower Show Sunday 18th August 2013

After a slow, wet, cold start to the growing season it has gone to heat wave conditions. It is lovely to have such a long spell of hot weather and we will have to wait to see what effect it has on the flowers and produce for the flower show.

Garden Competition

On Thursday 8th August, David Dolman from Westhills, Aberdeen, will be judging the garden competition.

This year we have a new salver, presented by Mary Singleton, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Nature Reserve. This will be presented to the ‘Best Wildlife Garden’, so if your garden attracts many insects, birds, butterflies and other wildlife please think about entering.

Each garden can win only one category and these are:

Smart Cup Best Garden Overall
Guthrie Cup Best Kept Garden
Birse Cup Best Flower Garden
Henderson Cup Best Vegetable Garden
St Cyrus NNR 50 Salver Best Wildlife Garden

And for those who feel that their gardens are not good for the competition but have lovely features there are the:

Westholm Trophy Best Water Feature
Glen Trophy Best Container.

If you wish to enter please contact Sandy Davidson on 01674 850016 by Wednesday, 7th August 2013.

HELP REQUIRED: We have really appreciated the helpers who have turned up to help with the setting up on the Friday before the show. We would be so happy to have such help on Friday 16th at 6.30 pm in the Hall.

We also need help during the show on Sunday afternoon, especially in the kitchen. If you would like to help please let me know or give our secretary, Kathleen Masson, a call on 850277 so she can put you on our work rota.

If you have lost your show schedule with all show details you can pick one up from McColls.
